Added lines 1-18:
Ok so you've done your Git clone stuff on the package manager or DTC projects and now you'd like to know how to turn it into a package so you can install it on your test server.

(If you didn't see how to do that then look [[PmWiki/Writting a packager|[-here-]]] and [[Git/Git|[-here-]]])

First you need to make sure you've installed all the required dev stuff so your system can build a package...

apt-get install dpkg-dev debhelper devscripts fakeroot

Now you should be able to make a package...

CD to the folder that git created when you did the clone and run:

dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot

You should end up with a .deb file that you can then use dpkg to install...

dpkg -i dtc-package-installer_0.24.10-1_all.deb
